The wall pieces, which we might call the "black
series", made up of dark glass evoke an elemental
purity and a minimal sobriety and in those of
the recent
works where pictorical and compositional effects
are stressed, there is an evocation of and homage
to classic constructivism.
And two sculpturally
suggestive nods: the small rectangular piece
which rises and comes back down slowly like a
drawbridge, which, if not the utopian "perpetual
motion" that many years ago Herminio and
an uncle (with an inventor's vocation) of his
tried to discover, is an endless movement and
the concise form that moves unfolding and refolding
its structure is as thought it were the wings
of a strange stick-insect enclosed in its glass
case by the entomologist-sculptor. All in all,
a spectacle of fascinating sculpture that Herminio
offers us in the fullness of his creation.
